The low table known as Djuna, was designed by Kazuhide Takahama in 1983, and is dedicated to Barnes’ writing style. This American author was one of the leading figures of the 1920s bohemian scene in Paris. The poised, delicate style of this table is characterised by the folded chrome-finish bent steel frame. Both pieces are inspired by the mountains. While the latter takes its name from the milking-stool used by alpine shepherds, the former is inspired by the French locality much loved by designer and architect Charlotte Perriand. These furnishing accessories stand out for the honesty of their simple shapes and for the concrete expression of their materials and function. The turned seat meets the stylised legs both in the Tabouret Berger, a lower version with three legs in hand-turned solid wood, and in the taller Tabouret Méribel, which has three angular legs. Produced by Cassina thanks to a meticulous work of craftsmanship that respects the authenticity of the original design, these small masterpieces can be used on their own or in creative compositions. The use of solid wood communicates a pleasant sense of softness, and we see the continuity of the grain right the way across the seat to the borders, nature creating a unique pattern on each.

Charlotte Perriand began designing the “en forme libre” series of tables in 1938 and devised Mexique in 1952 for the students’ rooms in the Maison du Mexique at the Cité Universitaire Internationale in Paris.Re-edited by Cassina for the first time in 2014, it gave rise to a collection that includes several iterations, all while staying true to the original designs. Now, working closely with Pernette Perriand-Barsac, daughter and sole heir of Charlotte Perriand, Cassina introduces the Mexique tables and stools in new versions for en plein air enjoyment to the max.
The iconic triangular shape with bevelled edges - originally designed to make the best use of the available space - remains the unmistakable trait in the Mexique Outdoor line, launched this year as a low table, dining table and high table with matching stool, available in two heights. New materials available in fresh, novel finishes and colours differentiate and emphasize the elegant design of this family. For all of the pieces in the series, Okoume wood, ideal for outdoor use, comes with matt lacquer finish in the following colours: marron glacé, China red, comfort, petroleum, light grey, sage green, a new shade of blue and Capri blue; the low tables also come with glossy glazed ceramic finish in the following shades: mossy green, basalt grey and light grey, while a natural teak seat is also available for the stools.
Thanks to this vast and varied product range, it is possible to mix and match the various styles to create dynamic, free-form arrangements in absolute Charlotte Perriand spirit.
As is true of all the works in the Cassina I Maestri Collection, each piece is authenticated by the Cassina logo, Charlotte Perriand’s signature and by a serial number that corresponds to the data on its ID card.

In the various models of Fauteuil Grand Confort, grand modèle, the concept of modernity is expressed through the separation between the metal support frame and the upholstered elements. The loose cushions are set inside a painted or chrome-plated tubular steel cage that forms the primary support for the piece in all its variations ‒ from the armchair with armrest on one or both sides, to the two- and three-seat sofas. Over the years, Cassina has worked closely with Charlotte Perriand, her daughter Pernette and the Fondation Le Corbusier to introduce new versions and finishes that, while reinterpreting the original design, remain faithful to its authentic nature. This includes the outdoor versions, with structure in stainless steel and a special textured paint finish available in five colours. The cushions are upholstered in water-repellent fabric to ensure maximum durability and reliability in all weather conditions.

This rug is inspired by Arabesque motifs and the “lace” decoration of the facades and doors of the Alhambra palace in the Andalusian city of Granada: a piece of architecture which over the centuries has seduced and inspired writers and artists of the calibre of Washington Irving, Alexandre Dumas, Honoré Daumier and Eugène Delacroix. As such, the graphical project of Alhambra represents the meeting of eastern culture and western geometries through different colour combinations: green/grey, grey/anthracite grey, grey/blue, grey/red.
