Absolute comfort rewritten with a bold, clear character. Sengu Bold is a new edition of the Sengu Sofa system, a sofa envisioned to celebrate conviviality, thanks to its open, naturally inviting shapes. The new version drops the original Japanese-inspired wood base, taking its soft curves all the way to the floor. A bold gesture meant to emphasize its commitment to hospitality and to the comfort of its namesake through generous proportions and even more exemplary padding. The dedicated upholstery fabrics have also been updated in ‘bold’: the textures have been magnified, as if to further accentuate the soft lines of the padding. Sengu Bold is a floor sofa known for its different, unconventional arrangements, as well as its shared features, like natural materials and colours, achieved by combining different sized modules. Pair centre, corner and end elements, with or without armrests – including the option to add a chaise longue and ottoman – for the utmost in relaxation. To ensure maximum comfort, the seat frame is in plywood and elastic webbing; the seat cushion is composed of two parts that can be disassembled. The internal part is in polyurethane foam with a plant-based variable-density percentage, and the exterior in blown recycled PET fibre encased in recycled PET fabric. To guarantee wellbeing and sustainability, the padding for the loose backrest cushions is made from blown recycled PET fibre, developed thanks to a study conducted by Cassina LAB, a partnership between the Cassina Research and Development Centre and the Poli.design consortium of the Polytechnic University in Milan. As with the Sengu Sofa, the leather or fabric upholstery from the Cassina Collection is removable. To create customisable and complete arrangements for the living room, the Sengu collection also includes a series of Sengu low tables – featuring the same wood base that distinguishes the parent Sengu Sofa – to which a round version with glass or marble top has been added.

Its roots in the architectural tradition, the design of the Floe Insel sofa translates the principles of the module and of versatility into bold proportions, to create generous volumes, that are both inviting and convey a dynamic spirit. The constructional harmony of the Floe Insel sofa derives from the designer's in-depth exploration of the link between the volume and the softness of the cushions. Optimizing the relationship between the padding in these and the elasticated bands, flexibility and support become one. Each element incorporates an asymmetrical line, at an angle of 25 degrees from the horizontal, making it different and unique. The seats and backs, meanwhile, feature diagonal stitching that accentuates the sense of movement. The padded profile on the outer edges of the cushions and the armrests serve to reconfirm Cassina's mastery in executing the complex task of adapting linear stitching to an asymmetrical structure.

An inventive modular sofa, with soft, inviting curves that bespeak comfort to the max and extreme versatility. The rounded arm-rests curve to meet the back, the shape expressing the crafts excellence synonymous with Cassina’s crafts expertise, more evidence of which can be seen in the upholstery edge-stitching that delineates the lines of the various elements. The sofa is composed of single units that have been conceived as if they were tiny sculptures, so they work equally well as part of a team or as stand-alones. The metal frame is upholstered in injected expanded polyurethane foam, with Dacron covers, to provide a generous and comfortable seat. The 1970s’ inspiration comes through also in the low tables that reflect the sofa’s soft profile, the painted frame meeting the elegant material quality of the wooden table-top. Designed to work together, one over the other, or abutting each other, these tables can be used to break up the lines of the sofa, but are equally at home as stand-alone coffee tables.

This sofa’s uncomplicated shapes conspire to reclaim light-hearted sociability while its open lines facilitate conversation. Taking inspiration from the Far East – a recurring theme in the Cassina collections and often expressed in the work of Charlotte Perriand – the Sengu Sofa features different, unconventional arrangements, bound by shared features like natural materials and colors, enhanced by a series of new modules, corner and end elements, and by an ottoman available with or without low table. The structure is a steel frame with webbing, elegantly finished with two wood beams that evoke the Japanese influence. The ergonomics of the sofa seat are enhanced by a soft fold along the backrests and armrests and external quilting. This detail is also repeated on the backrest cushions that complete the sofa. The cushion padding is made from 100% recycled fiber, obtained from PET and mostly recovered from the oceans, thanks to a study conducted by Cassina LAB, a partnership between the Cassina Research and Development Center and the Poli.design consortium of the Politecnico university in Milan.

This eloquent small armchair is extremely reminiscent of 1970s design. Dudet is an architectural gem defined by three individual padded and upholstered elements – in one continuous line, a seat cushion and two tubular shapes smoothly combine to form the legs, armrests and backrest. The soft, comfortable appeal of the Dudet small armchair is dazzling but, beneath its enveloping curves, lies an environmentally aware spirit; it can be easily disassembled. An innovative system, with an eye to circularity, allows the metal core to be separated from the polyurethane foam padding produced with a percentage of polyols from biological sources. This facilitates differentiated disposal as well as recycling of the premium materials, starting with the steel core.

The furniture-making skills known is made manifest in a new chair that, leaving classical stereotypes behind, sparks off powerful new idioms. The frame, in solid ashwood, consists of basic big, bold legs and cross-pieces with a solid and energetic look. The innovative nature of this chair springs from the contrast between the strong lines of the frame and the slender, understated covers, draped like a sheet of paper, conveying a striking sense of movement. The ergonomically-correct angle of the back and the invisible upholstery augment the comfortable look of the chair, creating a wrap-around feel where the turned-down top of the back becomes the arm-rest. The overall look is enhanced thanks to the elegant finishing touches, no stitching in sight, and a delicate leather-trim delineating the edges of the back and seat.

The Japanese influence in the design of this geometric container is immediately evident. Like a Haori, the traditional Japanese jacket worn with a kimono, Hayama is characterised by the same formal cut which plays on volume and subtraction. The legs, oblique in relation to the main structure, are the distinctive element of this simple and elegant sideboard. Apparently minimal, its solid form is accentuated by thinned edges that lighten its appearance. Perfect for living and dining areas, Hayama has two doors and transparent glass shelves inside. Hayama is available in one size either in polished lacquer in a wide choice of colours. The piece is re-reading of the work of the architect Kazuhide Takahama who industrialized the antique lacquering tradition, expressing the clear desire to go beyond rationalism through the research of relations with the past.

Sengu Table is an almost monumental piece of furniture that celebrates conviviality through poetic dialogue, placing an accent on the union of different materials that together express great visual tactility. The oval and round table is characterised by a solid wood structure with an oval leg which is connected by one or two crosspieces to the two cylindrical legs. The top is in the same wood essence as the structure - Canaletto walnut, natural oak or stained black oak - or combined with a cylindrical column of strong presence available in a selection of marbles and coloured ceramics. It is also possible to add a Lazy Susan in enamelled ceramic to the round version; this revolving top is another important reference to the traditions of the orient.

Patricia Urquiola studied architecture and design at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and completed her studies at the Politecnico di Milano where she graduated under the mentorship of Achille Castiglioni. In Spain, she was awarded the Golden Medal for Merits in Art and received the Cross of the Order of Isabella the Catholic. In 2001 she founded her own studio where she specialised in industrial product design, architecture, art direction and strategy consulting. She works with important design companies and international groups, and is part of the advisory board of the Politecnico of Milan university and the Triennale Milano Design Museum. She taught the master’s degree in Interior Design at the Domus Academy in Milan (2013-2015) and has given lectures at prestigious international universities.

I have exclusively worked with Lineaselect for my house renovation project. I have bought ceramic tiles and other bathroom fittings from them at a very good price. As with any house renovation project, the choice of good material makes all the difference. I started communicating with Jaunius with a simple price offer which evolved into more like continuous communication on range of different products.
He was always very responsive and precise with the information and his brand knowledge is impressive. From the selection to delivery, the whole process was super smooth and transparent. I was a bit unsure about damages during the shipping, however, my order arrived without a single damaged item.
