In this new re-edition of Skyscraper, designed by Bodil Kjær in the early 1960s, architecture is still the core ingredient. The shape of the vase, revealed by the name itself, is reminiscent of a skyscraper. Its sculptural form is achieved through a complex process and the refinement of the glass intensifies its bold aesthetic impact.

From the postwar period, Bodil Kjær opened up her home to a fresh new camaraderie encouraged by versatile furniture that translated the new domestic routines and a renewed need for comfort into tangible designs. With a lively social life, and to solve the problem of kitchens located far from the living room and to not miss out on serving her guests while continuing to converse with them, Kjær designed Serving Cart, a food and beverage cart in solid wood with colored center shelves and upper shelves in stainless steel. Bodil Kjær had picked up on the changes in lifestyles, between dinners eaten in front of the TV or on the patio, in homes that were becoming smaller and smaller. Not by chance, Serving Cart can be tucked away under the table when not in use, or kept out, like a small, elegant architectural accessory.

From the post-war period, Bodil Kjær opened up her home to a fresh new camaraderie encouraged by versatile furniture that translated the new domestic routines and a renewed need for comfort into tangible designs. Internationally known Danish architect, Bodil Kjær starts with a concept that acknowledges the user’s active contribution and their actual needs. This approach led, in 1955, to the High Back Chair, an armchair designed for pure comfort that encourages relaxing in front of the color TV (invented around that time) but, in the version with armrests, is also ideal for reading. Bodil Kjær placed a special focus on ergonomics: with a padded seat and angled lines that invite unexpected relaxation, the armchair took inspiration from Swedish research of the day on comfort in a world in rapid, ongoing transformation. Padding is in polyurethane foam and recycled PET fiber recovered from Plastic Bank®.

From the postwar period, Danish architect Bodil Kjær opened up her home to a fresh new camaraderie encouraged by versatile furniture that translated the new domestic routines and a renewed need for comfort into tangible designs. Dissatisfied with the fragile, wobbly side tables popular at the time, Bodil Kjær’s pragmatic approach led her to design the set of three stackable, solid wood tables in 1963. With their nested concept and slender yet strong structure, Nest of Tables is an elegant and practical trio that meets the needs of flexible spaces. The table tops are available in many materials and colors, from tempered glass to saddle-hide paired with laminated metal, making the set a perfect match in any surroundings.
Bodil Kjær has designed a number of furniture pieces or, architectural elements, as she prefers to call them. Her aim was never to create sculptural statements but rather to find functional, economic, and aesthetic solutions. Kjær was born in 1932 and grew up on her family’s ancestral farm near Horsens, Denmark, where she learned to appreciate quality and aesthetics. After school, she went to England to study architecture, but returned to Denmark a year later. She enrolled at the Frederiksberg Technical College and the School of Interior Design, where she learned to create spaces from experts such as Finn Juhl and Jørgen Ditzel. In 1960, after a year in the USA, Kjær went back to Denmark and established a studio in Copenhagen.
