In its new version, Camaleonda preserves the elements that have made it an iconic piece of furniture. Certain elements remain faithful to the original project, such as the 90x90 cm seat module, the backrest and armrest, and the characteristic capitonné design, still manufactured with the innovative system of cables, hooks and rings created by Bellini in 1970, which defines its characteristic look and modularity. Internally, instead, it has been completely redesigned to make Camaleonda even more comfortable than the original, as well as sustainable. The internal structure is now built like a sandwich, with easily disassembled layers of recycled or recyclable materials. The core of the seats, backs and armrests is made up of wooden panels; the padding is made of polyurethane in various levels of density and firmness, with different shaped layers interacting to create a comfortable spring-like effect. This engineering feature makes Camaleonda extraordinarily comfortable and allows the interior of the sofa to be disassembled, making it easy to recycle. The fundamental characteristic of Camaleonda is its unlimited modularity, a geometric nature that allows each element to become a sort of enormous pixel through which to define your home environment. Thanks to the tie-rods and rings, the modules can be unhooked and recombined at will, allowing the sofa to adapt to an evolving taste and to the dynamic needs of those using it, while always maintaining its unique identity. Camaleonda can be upholstered with the entire textile and leather range of B&B Italia, allowing for another variable in the multitude of possible combinations.

The Bibambola and Granbambola sofas are part of Le Bambole series, originally designed in 1972, awarded with the Compasso d’Oro in 1979. Icon of timeless contemporaneity and one of the most effective expressions of Made in Italy excellence combining research and creative flair, Le Bambole have provided a very personal answer to the theme of seats. What makes them special is the apparent absence of a load bearing structure, the extreme naturalness of the shape, and the combination of comfort, softness and elasticity that their appearance conveys. Where the original construction was based on a metal structure embedded in polyurethane, now the materials used are of the latest generation, starting with recycled polyethylene gives structure. A sustainable project thanks to the choice of materials and the construction method, that allows the components of Le Bambole to be completely disassembled and therefore easily recyclable.

The Cutter chair is characterised by a bold aesthetic. The back of the chair is slashed by a cut, as a tribute to the great artist Lucio Fontana: not just an aesthetic choice, but a detail generating a distinctive type of seating. Functional and comfortable in a frontal position, the backrest’s top sections move independently, making it also possible to sit sideways. Thus, users can chat with the person seated next to them, sitting informally while leaning on one side with an arm placed around the backrest. The upholstery and cover fully envelop the chair in thick full grain leather, creating an ideal combination of softness and rigour, underlined by saddle stitching. The central slash reveals an interior in refined Saffiano leather.

The Bolt Table is marked by an unusual metal frame, extremely simple, but of strong materiality: three steel interfacing crosspieces in angular sections that create a base supporting a round top in transparent extra light glass. The table is available in a single size and three base-frame finishes.

A sculptural and unexpectedly powerful table produced in a limited and numbered edition of only 100 pieces, Blitz stands out for its flat, slim, geometric external frame, which finds its natural completion in the curved and sinuous shapes of the interior, revealing aesthetic and constructive solutions reminiscent of a suspension bridge. Bamboo was chosen for the frame due to its lightness and rapid growth, a wood here ennobled by fine solid wood processing. It is an unusual choice for indoor use, but one that follows and relaunches the traditional quality of B&B Italia materials, at the service of an object reflecting a unique combination of design, engineering and high-quality cabinetmaking. The surface pattern contrasts with the table’s interior in a soft black shellac effect finish. This solution generates intense visual effects, where curved shadows seem to float on flat surfaces. The top folds at the ends like origami, becoming a support that tapers and folds again in order to rest on the ground. Countless technological solutions guarantee extreme solidity, despite the apparent lightness.

The playful Gli Scacchi series – named after and inspired by the game of chess – is composed of three elements representing the Queen, the Knight and the Ruck. Light and easy to move just like on a chessboard, Gli Scacchi is based on an idea of living free from constraints. The three elements create the shape of a parallelepiped through structures, made of soft polyurethane, that perfectly synchronise with the Camaleonda collection of seats. In the original 1971 version, Gli Scacchi represented a remarkable technical innovation as they were produced in self-skinning polyurethane foam, a solution which until then had only been used in the automotive industry. The 2020 version offers soft Kanu or thick leather covers with visible stitching. The elegant metal profile of the base emphasises the geometry of the shapes, in contrast with the overall softness of the object.
