Whilst sounding like something that was the iconic arcade game of the 70s, Moon Invaders is more a statement of design than any creative game play. It is best to think about Moon Invaders as a welcoming embrace of the nuanced isometric American art movement of the 80s and 90s. Playing with the square and rectangular form as their principle shape and style, it makes no excuses for the flamboyant use of materials. Marble is the striking center piece whilst the Tuscan styling and use of vegetable tanned leather makes up the arrangement for the corners and lifts on the outside. Finished with thin metallic legs, Moon Invaders is more than a play on words, but one of our environment and how we can create new emotions.

If design was a fixed concept, then Nelson may never have been made for it would have been the conformist who'd have said, "tables should never have spaces in the top!" That which renders Nelson unique is that which renders all design unique: freedom to try new things. In this case, all elements of the structure are joined together with an intrinsic yet swooping metal structure whilst the tops, made of wood and leather combine to give dramatic and irregular geometric forms. Again, Arketipo doesn't offer the ordinary but wants to play within the lines of what is possible and understands what the traditions offer; vegetable tanned leather, a traditional Tuscan material, is used in the Nelson design, providing different colours and shades.

Part sci-fi, part engineering brilliance, what Noth appears to lack in a traditional format of solid structure is actually a visual illusion that plays with the senses and stirs the emotions. Strong, geometric shapes sit on top and alongside one another with a simplicity and ease, providing open spaces around the sides to showcase elements of your life, and who you are without disrupting its overall look and finish. Whether it is in the centre of the room or next to the sofa, function and style perfectly complement what North is: a small table that doesn't compromise in either area. There's no denying that North is fit for any room: contemporary, traditional or one that looks to the future.

With an off-centre base and two distinct materials, Petra is the kind of small table that plays with the creative and challenges the engineering required to make something that not only stands out but works. Overlapping surfaces and the unusual matches of several simple and austere geometric shapes distinctly resonate with the first glance shifting emotions into curiosity at their form and balance. Designed to be used as individual items or as a group of pieces, each with the possibility of several design solutions such as cylinders, circles, squares and rectangles, Petra is a total design item to be admired for decades to come.

A record-shattering collection of songs, a convention-defying set of furniture pieces—they share an intrigue-rich name and an inspiring commitment to individual expression. Material is the clear protagonist of the Rumours occasional tables, which sees marble employed for the tops. This remarkable stone—at once exuberant, precious, eclectic, and engagingly theatrical—requires the greatest discretion in terms of design. With each piece, three metal blades undergird the top and intersect it with clean, precise cuts that interrupt the variegated marble veining of the curvaceous surface, yielding captivating contrasts between lines and areas, explicit and implied, that are organic and natural and those that are rational and geometric. Rumours draws upon these artfully conceived contrasts to present itself as simultaneously a sophisticated piece of furniture and a dazzling gem of rapturous scale. Here is that “crystal vision” Stevie Nicks sang of in Fleetwood Mac’s timeless “Dreams.” The interplay of the subtle graphic lines in the surfaces and the bold, robust slabs works to create an altogether new and unexpected lexicon of refined design for these one-of-a-kind pieces.

Simple ideas can sometimes be the hardest to achieve from an aesthetic perspective. A small table, like any other is just a top with four legs and yet Stijl manages to break the ordinary with an ode to some of the great geometric artists of a generation. From Bryce Hudson to Josef Albers, their impact is clear to see with Stijl. Linear shapes poke and pierce through each range of materials such as crystal, cement and wood adding texture and flow to design; together creating something exceptional. The final touch is the square metal legs, delivering intersecting lines and strong vertical drops in powerful colours and tones.

Whilst at first capturing your attention with its circular metallic frame, taking a second look will highlight that there is more to Ula than clever design; after all, we're talking about an Arketipo product. Ours is a philosophy, one designed to capture an experience of totality in one living space. From the smoked glass effect to the varying heights, design remains uniform whilst material finish is considered for aesthetic and tactile reasons. Smoked glass permeates the design bringing transparency to the overall area whilst the choice of structure finish brings elegance to an already visually stunning display.

Technology and art fuse seamlessly to produce Avalon’s striking design. Mighty slabs of iron are contoured by means of segmented plane geometry, with concave and convex curvilinear forms and a sequence of boldly dovetailed gestures that define the table’s base. This is a premier example of a minimalist structure reinforced by the power of its materials—the authenticity of the body’s natural iron and the primeval expressivity of the annealed glass top. Avalon’s austere formalism is contrasted with the dynamism of the base, while the glass disc surface, evoking a mirrored, softly rippling pool, transports us to an extraterrestrial dreamscape. Roxy Music’s last and greatest album, Avalon, is a touchstone of the 1980s. Even as its namesake table expresses a signature ’80s brand of boldness, it speaks as well to more ancient folklore and myth—the legendary island of Avalon, where King Arthur’s fabled sword, Excalibur, was forged—in particular through the tabletop’s Pacific blue finish. Below Avalon’s otherworldly disc of annealed glass, the powerful metal base winds like a welling tide with elegance and élan.

When two design schools come together, it can be an exhilarating thing. Here, architecture meets interior home design, Epsilon, a vision of dining table arrangement by Manzoni & Tapinassi is a design that links these two worlds. The base stands tall and strong, both in design and function whilst the top is enriched by a play of metal and wood, carving and cutting through the surface following the base setup. The materials equally showcase what is achievable with moka oak or sucupira contrasting with micaceous brown, oxy grey, brass or titanium in metal design. The result is an item with a strong dynamic set personality that thrives on individual style and showcases how two design worlds can combine to make something inspirational and unique.

Names can give away certain attributes, the Glorious then by Manzoni & Tapinassi is one that cannot and does not disappoint. One that brings lightness and almost ethereal arrangement to the centre ground of furniture making showcasing that strong need not be large but a concept that plays in the grey spaces of design. Available in moka oak or sucupira wood, the Glorious understands that what sets this design apart is not only the mixture of materials, the optional draw being available in vegetable tanned leather for example, but the metal work that is incorporated in the legs, setting it apart making it look delicate in a time of statements.

If the town to the South of London can deliver us a universal truth of time, then Greenwich for Arketipo needs to deliver a universal truth about furniture design, and we believe that this dining table does. Let us not underestimate the art and craft behind home furniture design, especially ones where communal living is the central idea behind the piece. Rich in unique details, a solid top does not detract but add to the base structure; a unique design that captures the refined handcrafted element which is then intersected with the offset metal ring available in a variety of finishes. Greenwich then serves as a greater purpose, one that shows what is possible when you deliver on design and weave through all of its complex permutations.

Standing out thanks to a singular central pillar, Icon, a design by Mauro Lipparini is a dining table arrangement that plays with graceful and elegant forms showcasing that simplicity is anything but easy when it comes to design and material selection. Icon plays not only with the simple nature of dining table design, but the emotional one as well. It's a way to render homage to materials, like the "Moon grey" marble top that contrasts with smooth, plain metal of the pyramid pedestal that when combined bring expression to balance and a unique identity in furniture design. Icon isn't trying to hide, it's trying to show what the subtle can be, when given some love and attention.

It is easy to get carried away with perfection. The most linear forms, the softest of soft materials, the most perfect circle and so on. But at Arketipo we take pride in the imperfections, sometimes it is what we seek to create something… perfect. Some of our most iconic designs are imperfections. Milestone is championing this with Gino Carollo’ s broken marble design. Where others seek to have the flattest surface, Gino has gone about breaking the marble to form a new design, an imperfection for perfection. An ode to angular design done by breaking rather than cutting. We champion all of our designs; Milestone is no different.

Finding balance has become an intricate art, whether in life or in the more physical manifestations of our day to day; Oracle has been described as an 'illusion', a 'law bending structure of interior physics' and even 'a centre point.' Oracle has an aim, one that looks to address balance in the structural form. The base is a complex piece of manufacturing, three metallic circles that meet at different angles proving that elegance can be art and that luxury can push boundaries; it is interior engineering that looks as stunning as it is thoughtful. Whilst the base is available in micaceous brown, brass, titanium and oxy grey, the top is cut to a circular shape or oval and it is available in moka oak or sucupira and Emperador marble or Niveo White marble with the rotating tray Lazy Susan, which is perfectly integrated in the table. The only way that the original Oracle design could be improved to showcase lightness, poise and balance was to keep most of what made the original Oracle unique, the base structure. Made up of three metallic circles that meet at different angles proving that elegance can be art and that luxury can push boundaries, the top has changed to something more, visual and yet invisible; glass.
Oracle hasn't let go of what made it unique it's just rendered it more visible.
Oracle shows us that rooms can find balance, it's just a case of knowing how.

If one is an heir to the throne, and another was a pioneer of multi-instrumentalism and musical fusion, then Prince, by Giuseppe Viganó is unashamedly the heir to grand design. One look and you understand everything you need to know about this stunning vision of what a dining table should be; a place to meet, talk, eat and share unique moments in time. The legs are strong yet refined by an intricate design, one which calls to a different time. Their form is integral to the total approach of the table, they are, if you look closely, based on the form of a fireplace - moreover, they evoke elements of that meeting area where everyone would sit and talk. This is a table that invites you to social living in the grandest of forms. The top? It's nobility done with a sense of belonging; here, everyone is welcome. It may be big, it may even have swooping lines and curvatures that evoke the idea of... big, but what it manages to do is shrink that space between you and your guests. Prince, a design statement of social living captured for generations to come.

We dare you to look at, Amy and ask the question, why doesn't this throwback to 1970s design deserve a space in modern living? The answer is simple, it does. You are faced with a dilemma however, what do you look at first? Is it the cantilevered structure which creates a sense that you're floating whilst seated? Is it the seat designed with enveloping comfort and curvature in all the right places? Or Is it the slender and decisive armrests that contrast and compliment the eye-catching base? Amy may be an ode to the 1970s, but what a respectful way to bring back the best of design inspiring era.

Duality is a design privilege; it means that whoever conceived it thought about a purpose or style that had to fit more than one vision. Goldie is an exemplar of this thought process. A contemporary design that meets classic lines, but there's more. Duality is also achieved in colour and or material choices. Nothing has been left to chance with Goldie, everything is designed for a reason.

One look at Miss Malice and you are reminded of a classical, somewhat vintage design. It would be fair to say you could see this in the 1960s or 70s, somewhere on Madison Avenue, in an advertising executive office or a homeowner who understood the art of neoclassical interior design. Its thick rounded and padded seat exhibit comfort whilst its thin metal legs showcase refinement in modern design.

A bit art deco, a bit art nouveau, NUMA is an expression of design that understands where the timeless masterpiece belongs - in your home. Light yet strong, soft yet knowing. Modern design and geometric interactions create a chair that expresses a new wave of formal elegance in furniture craftsmanship. Not unlike a basketball that has been split open, it encompasses a soft leather material that is subsequently stitched into the design providing an aesthetic and sensorial element, wildly contrasting with the three-dimensional metal framed base. In all, Victoria pursues beauty through conscious abstract lines detailing comfort throughout this revolutionary approach.

Three distinct elements characterise what is the design ideology behind Aura. The first is the distinct and geometric shape that provides balance and poise whilst executing a sense of refined style. The second is the featured marble or glass top providing drama and bursts of colour. Finally, it is enveloped by a metal tube. Combined, Aura is more than a sideboard: it's a vision that understands what it means to create personality through design and carefully selected materials whilst playing with the visual and connecting the emotional dots at the same time.

The latest design from Mauro Lipparini, Bolide is anything but sober, this is a statement piece; one for those that are concerned about form, details and ultimately, interior identity. This is a sculptural expression of design, one that takes angles and positions them in a unique set up that is only ever enhanced by our insight into material manipulation and focused approach to details. Think of Bolide as a fluid structure that found its shape through a combination of planned design and natural guidance, Mauro talks of "a wavy ribbon" and you'd be hard pressed to not see that form, but there is more to this. Compartments are broken up with a distinctive curvature, the doors form the design whilst the swooping angles add a sense of linear diversity. Naturally, it is highlighted by the use of materials, finished in either sucupira or moka, whilst the top - made from machined lacquer - provides contrast in both texture and implementation. This is a statement about who we are, a modern identity to being creatures of interior living. Bolide, it's not for the faint hearted but then again, why would you want it to be?

The city is a melting pot of ideas, cultures, people, and identities. How can you channel that into something we can all take into our own lives, our own living situations? Gino Carollo may present us with an answer. With its frame in eucalyptus and zebrano wood, a smoked glass segment and a marble top, Brooklyn has a lot going on in one beautifully designed product; not too dissimilar to a place which even New York raised Anthony Bourdain famously quipped, “I have never truly gotten to know.”
