Brand: Cassina
Specifications:
Charlotte Perriand’s innovative designs are the expression of a new art de vivre that ran against the currents of the day. Hers is a design approach nourished by multidisciplinary activities, including a key role played by photography. In this art of living, Perriand pours her passion for observing Nature into the smallest, most revealing details. The Le Monde de Charlotte Perriand collection ‒ which began as a partnership between Cassina and Pernette Perriand-Barsac, Charlotte’s daughter and founder of her mother’s archives ‒ is inspired by the patterns in the photographs taken by Perriand between 1933 and 1934 and manufactured in partnership with Ginori 1735. Hand-decorated patterns for porcelain dinnerware that brings another of the designer’s passions to fruition ‒ ceramics ‒ matured in contact with the Japanese masters during the years she lived in the Far East. Le Monde de Charlotte Perriand collection is composed of a charger, dinner plate, soup plate and dessert plate, presented in sets of two, with three different decorations that can be mixed or matched. Engraved on the plates are the designs inspired by Charlotte’s photos. Here, the plates painted with the Tronc pattern depict the circular striations of a tree trunk that could be the face of a lemur or the sensual mouth of an Indian goddess. Or, in the Neige pattern, the contours of a snow slab in the cracks of a stone floor, captured on film in the Fontainebleau forest in 1934, elicit the likenesses of mythological animals or gorgons. Or, still, the fish bone on the Arête service that calls to mind a mysterious work tool. To ensure authenticity, each item is marked with the Cassina and Ginori 1735 logos.

An evocative name and the idea of blending elements with different and seemingly incompatible essences into a single design sums up the Le Due Facce della Luna luxury flatware service by Afra and Tobia Scarpa. The result is a perfectly balanced blend of beauty and function that plays on the contrast between 925 Sterling silver, used for the handles, and the stainless-steel bowls, blades and tines. Designed in 1979 for the San Lorenzo Atelier in Milan, a masterpiece of creativity rediscovered and faithfully re-issued by Cassina. The cylindrical silver handles enhance the sensual luxury of the silver, while the blades of the razor-sharp knives and the flawlessly forged and minted forks and spoons deliver exquisite functionality.

From the postwar period, Bodil Kjær opened up her home to a fresh new camaraderie encouraged by versatile furniture that translated the new domestic routines and a renewed need for comfort into tangible designs. With a lively social life, and to solve the problem of kitchens located far from the living room and to not miss out on serving her guests while continuing to converse with them, Kjær designed Serving Cart, a food and beverage cart in solid wood with colored center shelves and upper shelves in stainless steel. Bodil Kjær had picked up on the changes in lifestyles, between dinners eaten in front of the TV or on the patio, in homes that were becoming smaller and smaller. Not by chance, Serving Cart can be tucked away under the table when not in use, or kept out, like a small, elegant architectural accessory.
Collection: Franco Albini
Brand: Cassina
Specifications:
Radio in Cristallo goes straight to the heart of the project that Franco Albini created as a prototype-model in 1938 for his home. He took apart and reassembled a radio in a wood cabinet received as a wedding gift, exposing the electric components by pressing them between two sheets of tempered glass. A tribute to lightness, a step that catapults the designer in the direction of bold modernity that, by demonstrating progress, narrates its value. In concert with Fondazione Franco Albini, Cassina has optimized the design the architect entered into a competition by the Swiss company Wohnbedarf in 1940, keeping the same size while adding new Bluetooth technology and an optional subwoofer that, connected to Wi-Fi, creates a more enveloping atmosphere. Radio in Cristallo will also be offered in a special limited edition of only five pieces. The Radio in Cristallo L.E., with a numbered metal plate on the side of the structure, will feature white knobs and an electronic circuit board with all hand-soldered circuits.
Collection: Charlotte Perriand
Brand: Cassina
Specifications:
In 1969, Charlotte Perriand designed a screen for the home of the Japanese ambassador to France. This allowed her to put her passion for the Far East to work. During her travels to the region, she gained many insights into the immense local artisan heritage. Charlotte Perriand, expert in designing furniture to meet the needs of its user, conceived the Paravent Ambassade screen to hide the door connecting the office to the salon de réception, a space that evoked a certain solemnity also because of the presence of a large sofa, over seven meters long, next to which the screen was placed. Due to a lack of budget to construct the screen, Perriand had the brilliant idea of reusing the discarded solid rosewood left over from the production of her Tabourets which she had cut into rectangular blocks to be connected with threaded rods. The result is an artist’s puzzle, a small architectural composition made from 313 hand-processed solid wood blocks, assembled one by one, held together by vertical tension rods and separated by anchors. A masterpiece of perseverance that, thanks to the great number of blocks, makes it possible to mold the screen into increasingly diverse shapes and articulate its movement with sinuousness like that of a micro-mesh.

Cassina in collaboration with Ginori 1735 and the Le Corbusier Foundation. Cassina takes its inspiration from the genius of Le Corbusier for a collection of three trays in pure, unglazed porcelain. These trays borrow some of the bas-relief symbols chosen for the walls of the buildings of Chandigarh, the city designed in the 1950s and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The same procedure can be seen in Marseille in the Unité d’Habitation on the sculptures moulées, symbolic designs embedded by Le Corbusier in the concrete – béton brut – taken from his figurative portfolio. Each tray, made by Ginori 1735, includes a design sketched by the Master in 1956: the open hand symbolising peace (square tray with rounded corners), the fish (round tray), the movement of the sun (rectangular tray).

Cassina in collaboration with Ginori 1735 and the Le Corbusier Foundation. The tableware, designed by Le Corbusier, was originally created for the Prunier restaurant in London. In 1961, owner Madame Prunier asked Corbusier to design a collection of tableware for her restaurant with the interlocking hands motif found on the bottom of the Les Mains tapestry, which was designed by the Master in 1951 and displayed in a private room of the establishment. Le Corbusier used the plates himself which, as he loved to say, combined quality and taste, or “the taste of forms”. In collaboration with Ginori 1735, Cassina has reissued the tableware with full respect for the original project, paying close attention to and focusing on its authenticity. Service Prunier includes a plate, soup dish, dessert plate and coffee cup with saucer and is made of white porcelain, like the model, with Le Corbusier’s original design applied by hand.

The vases’ structure is in lacquered brass (available in two finishes in light shades) to which decorative glass is fixed through two brass elements; the individual tiles are cast in metal moulds and coloured thanks to the overlapping of two dots of colour from the Venini Archive, in a special colour combination depending on the size. Inside the structure it is possible to insert an optional blown glass vase in amber or horizon blue to offer an additional pool of colour to the object while also allowing it to be more easily filled with water for flowers.
