There are four metal bases which are available in two finishes, Cemento and Antracite:- base with conical legs

The design of the Martha armchair is based on the encounter of the two main elements of the frame, both in moulded rigid polyurethane. The seat and armrests form part of a single sinuous open profile, the two extremities projecting outwards. The curved and slightly padded backrest appears to float in the air but is actually fixed to the frame with a hidden system. The entire product is supported by a triangular-section wooden easel structure. The seat’s slight incline towards the back ensures optimal comfort and emphasises the armchair’s dynamic design. The four-legged base is made from solid ash available in the Wengé and Moka finishes.
The colour effects and material combinations emphasize the fluidity and lightness of Martha. The outside of the frame is upholstered with a rich shell of Saddle Extra Leather while the inside can be covered in Pelle Frau® leather or fabric. The combination of the two materials is emphasised by the elegant visible-contrast hand-stitching. A soft seat cushion with removable cover in Pelle Frau® leather or fabric completes the product.

The idea of comfort itself becomes a sofa. Soriana came into being in 1969, thanks to an intuitive vision by Afra and Tobia Scarpa that was destined to re-write the history of upholstered furniture. By taking advantage of new polyurethane foam forming techniques, they crafted a sofa that, for the first time, has no need for internal support, but takes its shape from the grip of the metal structure that embraces it. In the sweet spot between formal and informal, it is inviting and open to new lifestyles; in 1970 Soriana was awarded the Compasso d’Oro as a masterpiece of complexity achieved through simple tools. The internal padding based on BioFoam® microspheres, a bioplastic of plant origin, is the result of updating developed by Cassina and Tobia Scarpa as part of the Cassina LAB project to promote wellbeing and sustainable design. The seat’s comfort is further heightened thanks to a 100% recycled blown fibre padding produced from PET recovered from Plastic Bank®.

With the various models of Fauteuil Grand Confort, grand modèle, the concept of modernity is expressed through the separation between the metal support frame and the upholstered elements. The loose cushions are set inside a painted or chrome-plated tubular steel cage that forms the primary support for the piece in all its variations ‒ from the armchair with armrest on one or both sides, to the two- and three-seat sofas. Over the years, Cassina has worked very closely with Charlotte Perriand, her daughter Pernette and the Fondation Le Corbusier to introduce new versions and finishes that, while reinterpreting the original design, remain faithful to its authentic nature. These models are also available in an eco-friendly version. Thanks to a study conducted by Cassina LAB, a partnership between the Cassina Research and Development Center and the Poli.design consortium of the Politecnico University in Milan, the foam-fill parts, the padding in the cushions and the tubular structure are produced with sustainable materials and processes.

In 1952, working with Franca Helg, his long-time assistant, Franco Albini designed Tre Pezzi, a contemporary restatement of the classic bergère chair. The chair is composed of a deep curved seat, a ring-shaped back rest and a half-moon head-rest, each of these geometric shapes standing out independently. Wide and welcoming, the upholstered sections combine clean-cut lines with total comfort. The tubular metal frame is cued on scaffolding poles, while the sideways curve of the armrests recalls the handrails on the Milan underground system, which were also the work of Albini and Helg. The supporting structure of the Vanity Fair XC armchair is made from solid seasoned beech. The padding uses both hand-shaped vegetable horsehair and rubberised horsehair and the seat cushion is in goose down with a polyurethane foam insert to help maintain its form over time. The seat, backrest and armrest spring system consists of hand-tied steel biconical springs attached to jute belts. A row of leather-covered pins finishes the back and sides of the armchair.
