The core concept for the Table tube d’avion table, introduced in 1929 at the Salon d’Automne, lies in the distinction between the support piece and the piece being supported; in other words, between the base and the top. The separation of the two parts is highlighted by the four intermediate supports that serve both as level adjusters and as spacers between the mass of the support and the slender lines of the top. Specifically, the base was designed in 1928, taking its cue from the oval profiles used in the aeronautical sector to separate the wings of biplanes. The current model also comes in an outdoor version with stainless-steel structure and textured powder-coat finish specifically for outdoor use, in five colours.

From the postwar period, Bodil Kjær opened up her home to a fresh new camaraderie encouraged by versatile furniture that translated the new domestic routines and a renewed need for comfort into tangible designs. With a lively social life, and to solve the problem of kitchens located far from the living room and to not miss out on serving her guests while continuing to converse with them, Kjær designed Serving Cart, a food and beverage cart in solid wood with colored center shelves and upper shelves in stainless steel. Bodil Kjær had picked up on the changes in lifestyles, between dinners eaten in front of the TV or on the patio, in homes that were becoming smaller and smaller. Not by chance, Serving Cart can be tucked away under the table when not in use, or kept out, like a small, elegant architectural accessory.

Duc is an original project from 1976 founded on the combination of cutting- edge materials and structural technology. While respecting the innovative and sophisticated character of the original design, Cassina renews and updates this sofa, both in terms of comfort and the size of the seat, while maintaining its characteristic panel structure assembled by means of a zip that runs along the sides for its entire height. Thanks to the study carried out by Cassina LAB, a collaboration between the Cassina Research and Development Centre and Poli.design at the Milan Polytechnic, the cushion padding in polyurethane foam is wrapped with a 100% recycled fibre, obtained from PET mainly recovered from the sea, guaranteeing comfort and respect for the environment. This new version does not include side cushions like the original model however it is possible to add optional armrest cushions. Duc-Duc is available in a two or three-seater sofa and armchair.

Antropus was created at the end of the 1940s when Marco Zanuso was commissioned to design the sets for the Italian-language version of Thornton Wilder's play The Skin of Our Teeth, which was dubbed "La Famiglia Antropus" in Italian, and was performed at the Piccolo Teatro in Milan. The architect worked with Arflex to produce an armchair fully upholstered in foam rubber; at the time, this material was considered highly innovative and was being promoted for use in domestic furniture-making for its expressive, and industrial ergonomic potential. The present-day version of this chair features polyurethane foam CFC free. This lends itself to creating a oversized and comfortable seat and back-rest that fit snugly into the slender, curving profile of the side panels. Cassina is making this model available in the original iconic red fabric upholstery.

The Tabouret tournant stool is a version of the swivel armchair designed in 1927 by Charlotte Perriand for her atelier and was also part of the group of furnishings exhibited at the Salon d’Automne [Autumn Salon] in 1929. Part of the Le Corbusier®, Pierre Jeanneret®, Charlotte Perriand® Collection, its iconic shape and versatility reflect the desire to simplify mass production by employing common elements. The trivalent chrome-plated steel structure with polished or painted finish is padded with polyester batting and CFC-free polyurethane foam fill, with leather or fabric upholstery. The stool was awarded Catas certifications, thanks to structural updating by Cassina in 2016.

An armchair, a dining chair and a sofa, of a simple style, familiar and authentic, created thanks to the extraordinary crafts skills proprietary to Cassina. The initial design, Le Tentazioni, dates from 1973, the objective being to find an alternative to traditional armchairs with their rigid seats and vertical lines. In the original design, the upholstery not only serves as a cover for the frame within, but also an expression of the inter-dependent relationship between it and the frame. This dictates the way the fabric falls, and how the fabric will cover it. In the intervening years, the constant evolution of constructional techniques has enabled Cassina to upgrade the design, the latest iterations being the 684 and 685, which are more comfortable than ever, while remaining just as visually impactful design-wise.

An extremely flexible bookcase, with myriad modular options, suited to being against a wall or as a room partition. Franco Albini designed this piece between 1956 and 1957 using a solid wood frame, with several shelves, as well as storage units that can be fitted with standard or drop-down doors. Since 2008, applying industrial manufacturing processes, Cassina has launched a number of frame and component options that help to maximise the potential of this piece, to the infinite, as its name implies. Fully free-standing, Infinito can be used from either side, both as a bookcase or display unit for objects of various kinds. The verticals are floor-to-ceiling and height- adjustable, while the shelves and storage units can also be set at various heights. Infinito is available in natural or black-stain ashwood, or in Canaletto walnut.

Le Corbusier, Charlotte Perriand and Pierre Jeanneret exhibited the first version of this table in 1929 at the Salon d’Automne [Autumn Salon] in Paris as part of the “Équipement Intérieur d’une Habitation” [Interior Home Furnishings] stand. The table, in its original size, which was originally presented as a writing desk, was revisited by Perriand in 1984, and relaunched by Cassina one year later, offering new features to keep pace with contemporary needs. The minimalist design of the frame is revealed in the uniqueness of the chrome finish on the tubular steel uprights and the coloured lacquer finish on the crosspieces. The series includes tables and low tables, in square and rectangular formats, with top in clear, textured or tinted thermoformed glass and painted trim in the various shades of the Le Corbusier colour palette.

Included among the en forme libre tables developed between 1938 and 1939, the final project was conceived in 1952 for the student rooms of the Maison du Mexique at the Cité Universitaire Internationale in Paris. The structure designed to take up as little space as possible provided for the possibility of placing several pieces side by side to create compositions with a wider and more regular shape. In 1952 the author replaced the wooden legs with triangular section legs in folded sheet metal. In 1956 a low version was made for the Galerie Steph Simon in Paris. The high thickness of the wooden top, available both in solid wood and in glossy or matt lacquer, conveys remarkable beauty, while the edges reveal a profile that is functional to the shape and size of the hand. In 2018, two new dining variants are added that allow you to accommodate 5 or 6 diners. New finishes have also been introduced which further increase the combinability and functionality of the tables.

This table/writing desk, designed by Franco Albini consists of two trapezoidal planes, one smaller than the other, on a single steel support. This balancing act is characterised by the material richness of the planes, which are available in three types of wood, and natural cement, their shape being delineated by a frame. In each version of this piece, one plane is thicker than the other, the higher of the two available with a leather top. This accentuates the tactile and visual qualities of the piece. While the single- leg support might suggest a lack of balance, equilibrium is established using the principle of the Roman balance (stradera, in Italian), a form of weighing scale consisting of a beam with two arms of different lengths, and a counterweight that can be displaced along the graduated, longer arm.

Inspired by the ready-made concept, Edison is the table Vico Magistretti designed in 1985 as a tribute to the elegance of industrial design, expressed through the special system of cross-shaped joints used to connect the pipes for gas lamps. A system borrowed by the architect to create the load-bearing structure for the table. Depending on the shape of the table top, the structure changes configuration in order to support the glass, material of choice because it allows the joint system to be visible. Edison is the table Magistretti preferred for the dining room in his own home in Milan and that Cassina relaunches with square, rectangular or round top.

The inclusion of the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2016 has aroused great interest in Le Corbusier’s Capitol Complex, an extraordinary architectural work created in Chandigarh in 1951 to celebrate the independence of a nation open to modernity. Among the furniture used in the Legislative Assembly building is this large conference table. Almost as if to evoke the solemn functions of the place, this model has a base made up of two important and graphic solid wood elements with a characteristic “corns entrecroisées” shape. In addition to the historic version with teak top and structure, the Cassina re-edition offers two variants in natural and black stained oak and the option of a glass top in different sizes.

Sophisticated style and conviviality by design – the Dine Out family of outdoor furnishings adds a settee crafted to deliver absolute alfresco dining comfort. The structure is solid teak, embellished with hand-woven grey melange colour polypropylene cord around the armrests and the upper part of the backrest. The seat cushion, in batting with a polyurethane foam insert, is upholstered in water-repellent fabric and attached to the solid teak slats with two straps. Distinctive grey gros-grain piping around the upper border adds a tailored touch to the upholstery. The two soap-bar shaped backrest cushions with rounded corners have double-stitched seams and are upholstered in water-repellent fabric, suitable for outdoor use. The base of the round table is a single conical shape available in concrete, with the top in concrete or solid teak slats in a stylized chevron pattern, or in yellow-white or green-white terrazzo with the top in the same material or in contrasting teak. The rectangular version of the table – in addition to the original base with two conical elements in yellow-white terrazzo, green-white terrazzo or concrete – has four teak legs in easel format. The top is available only in solid teak, in two sizes. A chair completes the collection.

The backrest features the artisan weaving of polypropylene and nylon rope, while the two backrest cushions and the seat cushion are padded with 100% recycled fibre wadding obtained from PET. Fringes of the cushions in the same shades as the rope are optional.
