Specifications:
Charlotte Perriand traveled to Japan and, starting in 1940, lived there for a number of years. She embraced the opportunity to design furniture that expressed the kind of poetic tension between Rationalism and Nature that set her designs apart. Her 1940 Tokyo chaise longue is the product of that experience of a lifetime, influenced by her ongoing contact with Asian products. The original bamboo chaise longue makes a return debut in a 50-piece limited edition in teak. Produced in the historic Cassina joinery, it blends the innovative techniques of industrial design with artisan hand-craftsmanship. Topping it off is an elegant upholstered cushion and leather headrest bolster for even greater comfort.

Specifications:
From the post-war period, Bodil Kjær opened up her home to a fresh new camaraderie encouraged by versatile furniture that translated the new domestic routines and a renewed need for comfort into tangible designs. Internationally known Danish architect, Bodil Kjær starts with a concept that acknowledges the user’s active contribution and their actual needs. This approach led, in 1955, to the High Back Chair, an armchair designed for pure comfort that encourages relaxing in front of the color TV (invented around that time) but, in the version with armrests, is also ideal for reading. Bodil Kjær placed a special focus on ergonomics: with a padded seat and angled lines that invite unexpected relaxation, the armchair took inspiration from Swedish research of the day on comfort in a world in rapid, ongoing transformation. Padding is in polyurethane foam and recycled PET fiber recovered from Plastic Bank®.

Specifications:
A lounge chair of timeless beauty that, as the designer explains, respects classic traditions, but with a contemporary twist. Cassina’s signature structure: a metal frame set within a polyurethane-injected foam shell, turns the padding into a major player, conjuring an inviting and extremely comfortable mood. The aluminium or solid wood base, and all-wood joints, are an expression of the quality and refinement of Cassina carpentry, while the wide array of finishes complete the picture in fine style. Available with or without the “wing” head-rest, this chair is supplied in a wide array of upholstery options, with zippers to make them removable.

Specifications:
A design that responds to the needs of modern-day society and the rhythms of life in the era of the home office, where the technology is “always on”, as much in the home as it is in the work space. The objective was to create a mobile sitting-room in the form of a comfortable and dynamic armchair that could swivel through 360 degrees, while also being comfortable. Suited to many contexts, including the “soft contract” setting, this chair is also available with an arm-rest on either side, one of which can serve as a head-rest. Available in either leather or fabric covers, as well on castors.

Specifications:
This eloquent small armchair is extremely reminiscent of 1970s design. Dudet is an architectural gem defined by three individual padded and upholstered elements – in one continuous line, a seat cushion and two tubular shapes smoothly combine to form the legs, armrests and backrest. The soft, comfortable appeal of the Dudet small armchair is dazzling but, beneath its enveloping curves, lies an environmentally aware spirit; it can be easily disassembled. An innovative system, with an eye to circularity, allows the metal core to be separated from the polyurethane foam padding produced with a percentage of polyols from biological sources. This facilitates differentiated disposal as well as recycling of the premium materials, starting with the steel core.

Specifications:
Produced by Cassina in both a metal and wood frame, with the same shape changing its personality, depending on which frame material used, the back and the seat always being leather. The simple geometry of the structure is warmer and closer to nature in the walnut or ashwood, and is thus ideal for the home environment. The chair’s lines become more slender and impactful in the cast aluminium option: here the ideal setting is the office or corporate space. The innovative approach used to assemble the leather sections reveals a clever configuration of cuts and folds that highlight the company’s crafts capabilities. The upholstery is an “envelope” into which slips the frame, no stitching in sight. Meticulous attention has been paid to the chair’s functional aspects, primarily through the use of a thermoformed plastic shell coupled with a thin layer of polyurethane. Meantime, the rounded seat enhances the feeling that Eve is a comfortable chair.

Specifications:
The furniture-making skills known is made manifest in a new chair that, leaving classical stereotypes behind, sparks off powerful new idioms. The frame, in solid ashwood, consists of basic big, bold legs and cross-pieces with a solid and energetic look. The innovative nature of this chair springs from the contrast between the strong lines of the frame and the slender, understated covers, draped like a sheet of paper, conveying a striking sense of movement. The ergonomically-correct angle of the back and the invisible upholstery augment the comfortable look of the chair, creating a wrap-around feel where the turned-down top of the back becomes the arm-rest. The overall look is enhanced thanks to the elegant finishing touches, no stitching in sight, and a delicate leather-trim delineating the edges of the back and seat.

Specifications:
The wood chair par excellence – one of the flagship pieces in the partnership between Gio Ponti, Cesare Cassina and the company’s joinery experts – adds a new outdoor version. An icon that has evolved over time while staying true to the original design and principles of lightness and functionality that shaped its archetypal ethos, the Leggera moves outside in a version crafted with a cutting-edge technique, used here for the first time. The wood version challenged the experience and skills of the Cassina joinery to pare the chair’s structure down to its essence. Similarly, the same lightness and purity of Leggera is expressed in a material suited to the outdoors: stainless steel. To accomplish this, Cassina borrowed from a Formula One automotive production process. Crucial in-depth research and development analyses led to the use of hydroforming, a construction technique found in the single-seater, to accurately replicate the original model of the chair, preserving its distinctive aesthetics and emblematic lightness. Unlike the traditional casting techniques, this intricate method expands the thin curved tubular steel from its interior outward to give the structure its shape. In a series of processes, each tube is inserted into a closed mould where, thanks to the pressure exerted by a liquid on the inside, it is pressed and moulded, filling out its shape. The individual components are then carefully welded together. Leggera Outdoor comes in three colours: ivory, mud and green. The seat comes in both the colour mud and in woven cord and, to ensure greater comfort, optional upholstered seat and backrest cushions are available. Thanks to the work carried out by Cassina LAB, the Leggera Outdoor chair can be completely disassembled and all of its components recycled at the end of the product’s life cycle, in a more eco-friendly, respectful approach to the environment.

This coat-rack was originally created by Le Corbusier for the Cabanon, a summer-house on the Cote d’Azur that he designed in 1951 as a birthday present for Yvonne, his wife. This re-issue by Cassina is based on the 1957 version, which had been made for the Unités de Camping, which was next to the Cabanon. In line with the bright colours used for these minimal spaces, keyed on the compact comfort offered by a cruise-ship cabin, the coat-rack too was multi- hued. The base is made of oak, while the hooks are mushroom-shaped, and are placed at varying heights, based on the criteria established in the Modulor.

The mirrors making up the Deadline collection by Ron Gilad are ingeniously designed hybrid objects, combining premier engineering and carpentry skills of the highest order. 16 unique pieces, each set in its own black or white ashwood frame, each of which boasts a different texture and shape. Every piece is composed of two sheets of glass, 12mm apart. The front face is silvered, the back being coloured orange, blue, or red. These colours are reflected in the second mirror, to create a subtle interplay of graphic shapes. The frame comes apart so the mirrors can be cleaned. It is fitted with high-profile joints, the better to emphasise that this is an example of craftsmanship. The oblong, square, or rectangular frames highlight the difference between each option, reinforcing the idea of the unique nature of the work of art. **Deadline mirror launch by Ron Gilad @ Cassina IXC, Japan**

This sectional system is highly versatile, both in terms of its shape and its affordable price-point. With its soft and comfortable seat that slots smoothly into the back, and its fold-up/fold-down head-rest, Moov extends an open invitation to sit down and be pampered. The frame is characterised by a metal line that runs the entire length of the elements, highlighting the compact nature of the outer surfaces. The system’s multifunction potential is realised through the presence of a number of islands that can be linked to the sofas, which are available in three lengths, and in various compositions. Moov’s eclectic and contemporary mood is further underlined by the fact that the sofa can be supplied in either an 85- or a 100-centimetre depth, making it fit even when space is at a premium.

This sofa’s uncomplicated shapes conspire to reclaim light-hearted sociability while its open lines facilitate conversation. Taking inspiration from the Far East – a recurring theme in the Cassina collections and often expressed in the work of Charlotte Perriand – the Sengu Sofa features different, unconventional arrangements, bound by shared features like natural materials and colors, enhanced by a series of new modules, corner and end elements, and by an ottoman available with or without low table. The structure is a steel frame with webbing, elegantly finished with two wood beams that evoke the Japanese influence. The ergonomics of the sofa seat are enhanced by a soft fold along the backrests and armrests and external quilting. This detail is also repeated on the backrest cushions that complete the sofa. The cushion padding is made from 100% recycled fiber, obtained from PET and mostly recovered from the oceans, thanks to a study conducted by Cassina LAB, a partnership between the Cassina Research and Development Center and the Poli.design consortium of the Politecnico university in Milan.

Designed by Vico Magistretti, this bookcase with its simple, clean-cut lines was the outcome of a detailed analysis of the classic model featuring side supports and shelves. This piece is an icon of design, yet also a veritable invention in terms of construction: the diagonal bracing struts become the support structure, and house the shelves, eliminating the need for side supports. Putting the focus on the hinges and the six shelves, the structure, which can be folded away, can also be used as a room-divider. Its elegant and primary aesthetic, timeless and easy to read, has made the Nuvola Rossa an undisputed design icon since 1977. It has been imitated several times as an example of simplified function achieved via an interplay of shapes.

Sengu Table is an almost monumental piece of furniture that celebrates conviviality through poetic dialogue, placing an accent on the union of different materials that together express great visual tactility. The oval and round table is characterised by a solid wood structure with an oval leg which is connected by one or two crosspieces to the two cylindrical legs. The top is in the same wood essence as the structure - Canaletto walnut, natural oak or stained black oak - or combined with a cylindrical column of strong presence available in a selection of marbles and coloured ceramics. It is also possible to add a Lazy Susan in enamelled ceramic to the round version; this revolving top is another important reference to the traditions of the orient.
