Piero Lissoni’s design for this table is based on how light it looks and how strong and solid it really is. The essential lines of the Naan table are accentuated by the supremely slender rectangular top, which comes in at a mere 10 mm, and is available in a range of materials. Options include smoked oak, where the beauty of the wood is brought to bear thanks to a state-of-the-art manufacturing process. Exposed to very high temperatures, the wood becomes resistant to damp, while taking on a darker hue that sets off the natural vein. The wood becomes harder and more compact, while the colour leaches down into the wood, remaining unchanged over time. Cassina’s premier craftsmanship married with its industrial manufacturing prowess come together in a remarkable display of constructional mastery. The inclusion of the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2016 has aroused great interest in Le Corbusier’s Capitol Complex, an extraordinary architectural work created in Chandigarh in 1951 to celebrate the independence of a nation open to modernity. Among the furniture used in the Legislative Assembly building is this large conference table. Almost as if to evoke the solemn functions of the place, this model has a base made up of two important and graphic solid wood elements with a characteristic “corns entrecroisées” shape. This small wooden writing desk was designed for the children’s rooms of the Unité d’Habitation in Nantes-Rezé, a comune in the Loire Atlantique département. Le Corbusier’s interest in promoting the harmonious arrangement of people’s individual and collective lives led him to explore spaces and furniture in-depth, with constant reference to the measurements of the human body calculated using his Modulor system. The LC16 Table de travail consists of a shelving unit and a work-surface, both of them in matte natural-stain oak. The piece can be extended by adding fixed shelves to the table feature.

Delfi forms part of the Ultrarazionale collection, which was launched in 1968, and is composed of sculptural pieces designed by Carlo Scarpa, typified by his signature attention to detail and choice of materials. This table is a re- design of a Rationalist model created by Marcel Breuer in the 1930s for Dino Gavina’s residence in Bologna. At the end of the 1960s, Scarpa began to re- examine the original concept, effecting some variations, in agreement with the designer. In 2009, Tobia Scarpa, Carlo Scarpa’s son, suggested yet another variation: this time, a glass table-top so as to highlight the elegant brass supports and the fluting on the marble bases, the better to see the formal elegance of the piece.
