Collection: Hommage À Pierre Jeanneret
Brand: Cassina
Specifications: This chair is one of the most recognisable in Chandigarh’s Capitol Complex, found throughout the offices of the Secretariat. The independent pieces, including the side bars in an inverted “V” supporting the armrests, are all made of solid wood. The woven backrest and seat, stretched across a wooden frame, are elements common in the area, much like the use of local woods like teak. Similar to the better-known office chair, this armless chair also uses the “V” approach to sidebars, in this case shorter as they do not extend to the arms. Importance, instead, is given to the seating/ backrest sequence in Viennese woven cane, connected with an immense geometric section supported by two wooden profiles, and coplanar legs, that together, are simple and yet, powerful at the same time. Cassina’s reissue offers the classic version in teak, and two versions in natural and stained black oak.
Collection: Hannes Wettstein
Brand: Cassina
Specifications: Chair without arms, internal steel structure, padded with CFC-free polyurethane foam. Feet in black plastic material. Covers in removable fabric or soft leather. The catalogue configuration has been expanded with the introduction of a new version finished with a combination of two materials: external shell in leather and internal part in a range of selected fabrics.

Brand: Cassina
Specifications: Elegant and functional, the Hola chair is one of Cassina’s all-time best- selling pieces. Conceived to offer comfort to the max, both in domestic environments and for contract use, Hola’s delightful curves, crafted from one single mould, conjure a harmonious interplay between the seat, back and legs, where the inner steel core of the chair marries the expanded polyurethane padded upholstery to perfection. Cassina’s construction skills are revealed in the company craftsmen’s approach to joints and their meticulous attention to detail. Supplied with or without arms, this chair is upholstered in leather, or with removable fabric covers, alternatively in its most recent iteration: leather with fabric.
Collection: Philippe Starck
Brand: Cassina
Specifications: Two chairs that exemplify Cassina’s innovative approach to furniture: harnessing design acumen and impeccable construction skills to address day-to- day functionalities and bring forth a mature and eclectic piece that fits any setting, whether domestic or corporate. The Caprice and Passion collection, originally available only with a four- spoke base in wood or steel, is now complemented by two new versions, both of which feature an aluminium base, with either a four-spoke or petal-shaped swivel mechanism. The futuristic-looking nylon seat, rendered possible thanks to state-of-the-art manufacturing processes, is upholstered in leather, either smooth or capitonné, the latter trademarked, follows the lines of the chair as would a bespoke tailored garment. If Caprice stands out for its iconic and distinctive design, Passion reinterprets the construction and details of the Caprice chair with a welcoming and comfortable profile.

Collection: Charlotte Perriand
Brand: Cassina
Specifications: With the Ombra Tokyo chair, Charlotte Perriand came up with an iconic piece with great visual appeal and exquisite refinement, conjured from a single sheet of oak plywood, cut, folded and curved to evoke the Japanese origami tradition. This chair was first shown in 1953, its slim-line seat being an absolute first. Stackable, light, and functional, the Ombra Tokyo chair is the perfect synthesis of gesture, form, and technology, expressing to perfection Perriand’s design ethos. The constructional techniques applied by Cassina shapes the material in full respect of the original design, and its timeless personality.
Collection: Erik Gunnar Asplund
Brand: Cassina
Specifications: The Göteborg chair is Erik Gunnar Asplund’s poetic interpretation of Rationalist ideas. The chair was commissioned for the extension of the Town Hall in Göteborg, Sweden, whose warm, wood-panelled rooms are evoked in its ashwood frame. The curved and slightly convex profile recalls Bauhaus designs. In this case, though, Asplund keeps the back and legs the same width. We also see an homage to the historic Thonet No. 14 chair, one of the early examples of industrially manufactured furniture.
Collection: Mario Bellini
Brand: Cassina
Specifications: “This was a new kind of chair, constructed totally out of leather, much cloned since then.” Thus Mario Bellini describes Cab, a best-seller that he designed in the 1970s, which is now a signature piece in Cassina’s I Contemporanei collection. Cab was the first-ever chair to feature a free-standing leather structure, inspired by how our skin fits over our skeleton. The upholstery consists of sixteen pieces of saddle leather. Individually die-cut, they then undergo fourteen discrete procedures, again by hand. The pieces are sewn together only when their outer edges have been trimmed to ensure a perfect fit. Once assembled, the cover is attached to the chair’s steel skeleton and held in place by means of a zipper fastening, as in a bespoke tailored garment. The wide array of colours for the saddle leather cushion is now complemented by pigmented saddle leather in black, brown and Russian red.
