The statement pieces of B&B Italia
The first design icons of B&B Italia appeared in Gaetano Pesce’s UP collection and Tobia and Afra Scarpa’s Coronado. In the 70s Le Bombole collection by Mario Bellini which came out together with a bold advertisement campaign, collecting a lot of positive attention in the industry. The 80s were a decade of award-winning for B&B Italia. The company won the Compasso d’Oro prize for the Sisamo wardrobe and 1989 was awarded the Compasso d’Oro “for the constant integration work carried out to conjugate the values of scientific and technical research with those necessary to the functionality and expression of the products”. The 90s are marked by the Harry and Charles collection created by Antonio Citterio. B&B Italia selects their partners for collaborations carefully and picks out only the most talented designers, such as Patricia Urquiola who was a creator of successful collections Tufty-Time and Husk.
