Flexform was created as a family business in the 1960s, Northern Italy. The Brianza district where the company was established is known since the early 1990s as a hub of many artisan workshops of wood, metal, and other Italian craftsmen. The place was the cradle for upcoming fine Italian design, having the best talents educated in nearby Milan.
The first workshop of the brand was opened in 1959 by the Galimberti brothers and called “Flexform di Galimberti”. The elegant journey of Flexform started to unravel with its first showroom where fine sofas and armchairs were displayed and soon became a part of the elegant buildings in Milan and luxurious villas near Lake Como.
After the leadership of the Galimberti brothers, the company was taken by their children and in 1967 became the Flexform S.p.A. The company was open to talented designers and made many successful collaborations with such names as Cini Boeri, Joe Colombo, Asnago-Vender, Rodolfo Bonetto, and others. One of the most significant partnerships was with architect and designer Antonio Citterio, who worked together with Flexform for more than forty years.
Now the company is run by the third generation of Galimberti, who are grateful for their deep roots and family legacy. Knowing their own history and carrying great experience gives them the ability to stand firmly with their vision and seek future success.
In the 1970s Flexform shifted its direction into international markets. Their global growth was rapid, but steadily successful and brought the company respectably earned recognition in different continents. Now the company owns a series of flagship stores representing their best Italian design products all over the world.
