An inventive modular sofa, with soft, inviting curves that bespeak comfort to the max and extreme versatility. The rounded arm-rests curve to meet the back, the shape expressing the crafts excellence synonymous with Cassina’s crafts expertise, more evidence of which can be seen in the upholstery edge-stitching that delineates the lines of the various elements. The sofa is composed of single units that have been conceived as if they were tiny sculptures, so they work equally well as part of a team or as stand-alones. The metal frame is upholstered in injected expanded polyurethane foam, with Dacron covers, to provide a generous and comfortable seat. The 1970s’ inspiration comes through also in the low tables that reflect the sofa’s soft profile, the painted frame meeting the elegant material quality of the wooden table-top. Designed to work together, one over the other, or abutting each other, these tables can be used to break up the lines of the sofa, but are equally at home as stand-alone coffee tables.

The armchair has organic forms - like the die-cast aluminium base - and textural elements that celebrate its affinity with the environment, like the natural-looking solid teak armrest with sanded finish. The backrest, with frame in painted AISI 304 stainless steel, is available in hand-woven rope with an exclusive design or in natural untreated willow, used here for the first time. The outstanding comfort of the armchair is guaranteed by the generous seat and backrest cushions with padding in SoloSoff(C), a blown polyester fibre and memory foam-based product, and the reclining backrest that can be set in two different positions thanks to a manual mechanism inspired by Asian architecture: a supporting rod in solid teak, processed to look like a branch, held in place by two wooden nails. The collection is completed by a two- and three-seater sofa and a side table in two different heights.

Bend-Sofa is a modular sofa with a great personality. It seems to have been moulded by an artist’s hand, but actually originates from the study of 3D models and digital research. Its irregular shape enhances comfort. The very name Bend-Sofa effectively expresses the idea of movement obtained by the alternation of solids and voids, underlined by the contrasting stitching that gives rise to a further design on its irregular and sinuous surface. The corrugated modules, assembled starting from seat, ottoman and corner elements, develop a large number of configurations, from linear versions in compact dimensions to large compositions, as well as original and alternative solutions that stand outside traditional canons.

The apparent informality of Get Back conceals its close attention to detail. The seat and backrest merge together in a single, extremely light element decorated with thin piping that makes it look as if it has been designed in pencil. The rounded corners make the surfaces even more inviting and a leather armrest enriched with precious stitching embraces the seat from the side, underlining the softness of its forms.The seat and backrest cushions, padded with soft down, create an interesting contrast with the sculpted surfaces of the frame and underline Poltrona Frau’s leather processing prowess.
The backrest structure is made of solid beech and poplar, birch plywood and infill produced from hardboard panels.
The frame of the basic structure is made of die-cast aluminium and solid tulip wood for the covered parts. Elements in moulded polyurethane foam are inserted in the ends of the backrests and the corners of the frame.
The base and backrest are padded with polyurethane foam while the armrests are padded with polyurethane and polyester padding. The seat spring system consists of interwoven elastic belts. Seat cushion with down padding and stabilising insert in polyurethane foam. Backrest cushion with down padding in separate chambers. Cast aluminium feet with Ruthenium finish and black nylon caps. Adagio is a seating system built upon the clustering of precise shapes that blatantly break the rigid rules of perpendicularity. Forerunner of the design current undertaken by Flexform in the 1980s and known as the “Family Sofas”, the Nonnamaria sofa revisits the sofa style of the day, reinterpreting it in a contemporary vibe with updated proportions. The resulting sofa has a clearly-reassuring and homey appearance that draws upon the collective memory but is finally freed of the superfluous frills and decorative details that weighed down the line. The Nonnamaria sofa comes in two- and three-seat versions and its soft, generous silhouette is enhanced by a characteristic armrest that reinterprets the traditional “scroll armrest” in a lighter, more relaxed version. The Nonnamaria sofa comes with practical front self-locking casters, making it easy to move.
