Alphabet of light is a language based on light intended to convey freedom, an elementary principle generating an open system. BIG starts from an abacus of essential geometries to design a new font that translates into light, an alphabet used to write and to express one’s thoughts, a tool to give shape to spaces. It allows to design light in space with words, as well as with graphic signs. Two linear elements of different lengths and two round ones are combined with a system of letters, numbers, and symbols. The round elements, available in two diameters, can be separated into modules to join the linear elements together according to different angles, thus designing everchanging geometries. These simple base modules, with specific geometric proportions, can be combined with each other to create countless basic or more complex, linear or curved structures of light, thus producing suspension appliances matching with architectures or space functions. The idea of BIG joins the optoelectronic competence of Artemide to define an innovative construction principle and provide continuous and comfortable lighting. Eclisse, designed by Vico Magistretti in 1965, won the Compasso d’Oro Award in 1967 and become ambassador of Italian design worldwide. Eclisse is an avant-garde balance between form and function, design and utility. The concept’s foundation lies in its functionality of adjusting the intensity of light through its rotating inner shade that “eclipses” the light source. In fact, with a fixed outer shell and a moveable inner shell the lamp can provide direct or diffuse light.
A table lamp, it can also be wall mounted. Painted metal body available in white, red, orange or yellow and PVD version, made with an innovative and sustainable process of metal vacuum deposition ("sputtering"), available in black, brass, copper or mirror.
From the point of view of environmental-friendliness, “sputtering” is the absolutely cleanest coating technology for the type of metal used and because all emissions are abated, in particular those into the atmosphere of sulphuric acid and cyanides produced by galvanic processes.
Solid paint with up to 5% of solvents (compared to 75% of traditional products) is employed for the successive protective clear-coat phase.
The process generates very little waste and the resulting finish is particularly resistant over time.

Empatia is inspired by the association between the great glass-blowing tradition and the LED technology of Artemide. High interest in the expression potentials of this material resulted into co-operation with master glass blowers to gain full control of the special suppleness of Venetian glass and to work on the balance between surface and light, between subtle densities and transparencies. Hence clear, pure craft objects, each of them unique in all respects. Transparency and opacity are wisely dosed to obtain a glass that reflects light without glaring and without losing efficiency. Hence optical device, whose heart is a high-performance LED-based light engine created separately from the glass emission body in favor of higher thermal efficiency and performance. Light is controlled with maximum yield and driven towards the glass diffuser through a transparent pipe with a very low absorption coefficient.

A.39 Refractive's patented optical technology was developed to achieve maximum efficiency on a small scale, in compliance with the regulation for the lighting of workspaces.The lens is specially designed to intercept 100% of the flux emitted by the LED and control it with minimum dispersion so as to ensure more than 90% efficiency.
The lens is the primary optical system that collects and redirects the flux without intercepting the geometry of the cell in which it is inserted, thus avoiding a deterioration in performance in terms of quantity and quality of light emission.
The small cell in which the LED and lens are inserted acts only as screen to avoid direct viewing of the LED from certain angles but does not affect the flux emitted, leaving a clean, pure light, whose characteristics are defined solely by the primary optics.

I have exclusively worked with Lineaselect for my house renovation project. I have bought ceramic tiles and other bathroom fittings from them at a very good price. As with any house renovation project, the choice of good material makes all the difference.
