Mutina brand was established around 30 years ago in Fiorano, province of Modena, Italy. Following the motto “Less is more” of one of the fathers of Italian design, Bruno Munari, Mutina has achieved a level of excellence and is a leading ceramics producer of Italy.
In 2006, the Mutina brand reached the peak of its success by focusing not only on the texture, composition, and scale of the products but also taking detailed care of the creative experimentation. The company started to combine the best technology achievements with the hand works of their skilled professionals to rise above the limits of the material, seeking those perfect colors in the color palette. Assortiment varies from the largest to the smallest of tiles, slabs, or mosaic pieces. Moreover, all of Mutina’s products can be mixed and matched together. Mutina team is not afraid to experiment and combine different styles and materials, thus coming up with innovative, unique, and modern looks.
The quality of Mutina comes from the continuous research process which includes non-stop testing of all the steps: from idea making to producing. That is a direct way of inventing new and advanced technologies.
Mutina’s wall and floor covers are made for all kinds of modern spaces: from contemporary residential areas to fashion showrooms and sophisticated restaurants. The brand is proudly implementing projects all around the world, including Europe, Asia, and the Atlantic region.

Working according to this value lead to mutual respect and friendships with the designers, who were the partners of Mutina projects. The colaborators’ list includes: Patricia Urquiola, Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, Tokujin Yoshioka, Yael Mer and Shay Alkalay of Raw Edges, Konstantin Grcic, Inga Sempè, Hella Jongerious, Nathalie Du Pasquier, Laboratorio Avallone, OeO Studio. Creating together with different personalities resulted in a wide range of various collections and items: from a nature neutral to dynamic and bold, from pastel to vibrant and flashy. To create the best ceramics there might be Mutina follows the concept of a strong identity and perfect harmony of modern and aesthetical products.
Mutina operates as an experienced editor who mentors the assigned authors – designers while implementing their ideas into new collections, experimenting with materials, and pushing to new limits.
Azulej collection designed by Patricia Urquiola was a fusion of the rich Portuguese history and tradition of ceramics mixed together with a modern view to the shapes and colors. New natural colors and innovative material represents the brand. 27 different solid patterns, endless combination possibilities, and the timeless style are what you cannot resist after seeing the Azulej collection.
In 2016 Multina has launched the platform named Mutina for Art, a program where contemporary art is a central figure. The program was born out of a constant passion for refined shapes, innovation, and visual inspirations. Mutina for Art shows the brand’s dedication and attention to contemporary art. The goal of the program is to make it a source of inspiration, influence, and unique experience for all creators as well as to stimulate a deep conversation about it.
